Kid's Kayak ClubThe Kid's Kayak Club meets on the river from around June 15th through September 15th. The club is sponsored by Idaho River Kids and Cascade Raft and Kayak Company. It is a chance for kids to learn about water safety and kayaking while continuing to develop respect and responsibility. To join the club and be on the river, you must be a member of USA Canoe and Kayak and have been checked off by special arrangement or have attended a Kid's Camp with Cascade Raft. From June15th to September 15th, there are monthly dues determined by which "River Plan" the kid are in. Currently kids can be in one of two river plans. Kool Kids on WaterThe first plan is for those kids that may just be starting out on the river. These kids meet twice a month on the river(every other week for the evening session). Events include but are not limited to kayaking, rafting, and river boogie boarding. The cost for this group is $20 per child. River KidsThe second plan is for those kids that are more serious about developing their river skills. These kids will range from beginners that have had very little river time to the experienced kids that are working on slalom and/or class IV kayaking skills. These kids will have six oppourtunities to be on the water each month. The cost for this group is $50 for the first child and $25 for each additional child. River DuesThe every other week plan costs $20 per month. The six times per month plan costs $50 for the first child and $25 for each additional child. The dues will be paid by the 15th of the month, RSVP to EventsOnce a child is signed up for a group, invitations will be sent via email the week before the event(s). You must RSVP (reply to) by 8:00 am Monday to ensure a slot in the class. There are different sections of the Payette river that is used for training. Beginners will start out on the "Lower Main" that starts at the Cascade Raft headquarters and will end at either the diving board take out for those first timers of at the Horseshoe Bend boat ramp for those that are ready for their first Class III white water rapid. The another section of the river used is the "Upper Main" starting at mile marker 77 and ending at Cascade Raft headquarters. When the kids feel they are ready to move up, this is the place to be. The "Gutter" is a great place for the kids to boogie board for fun and to cool off or for the serious kayakers to work on hard lines and diagonal ferries.
